August 1, 2015Whitby & District Lions 6th Annual Charity Beer Festival aims to raise money for various local charities and good causes that Whitby Lions support, as well as supporting Whitby Lions Disability Scooter Programme and the club’s efforts to raise awareness of diabetes.
This year’s event will again be held at the Whitby Mission & Seafarers Centre, Haggersgate, for the second year running, after a very successful year in 2014. The festival is open from Thursday
30th July until Sunday 2nd August, celebrating some of the finest local and regional handcrafted real ales that are produced by a range of widely credited Micro Breweries.

The festival boasts more than 30 real ales and ciders, all available to sample (in ½ pint measures), giving you the perfect opportunity to experience and appreciate the wonderful variety of styles and flavours on offer. In addition, there will also be a variety of perrys to sample, traditionally brewed using only the best quality fruits. Fresh, locally produced food will be available throughout the festival period and may provide a complimentary addition to your choice of beverage.Lions Beer Festival

The festival is open for all to enjoy and in the past has attracted an excellent variety of visitors including families, holiday makers and real ale enthusiasts! Everyone is warmly welcomed to the event, though we do aim to encourage a responsible and relaxed atmosphere for all to enjoy.On behalf of Whitby & District Lions, we thank you for your past and continued support of this local charity event and look forward whole heartedly to seeing you there!

£5.00 entry fee includes: a commemorative festival glass tankard (to keep), Beer festival programme (complete with a real ale and cider guide) and 1 beer token.

August 17, 2015The theme of this years' firework finale is entitled 'Ignite the Dark'.
Vivid blue, aqua, purple, red and silver shells will look incredible over Whitby as the colours reflect on water. Reaching a height of 500 to 600 feet and bursting spectacularly in the sky.
The display finale is named 'Red Fans' and is a tribute to the Red Arrows in their 50 Anniversary Year.
